5 classic thrillers for a Friday night!

Friday nights, to me, are about getting absorbed into the world of black and white and mysterious affairs at home (AG pun intended lol). All I do is order my comfort food, switch on a classic thriller, and unravel secrets with the protagonist. If you wanna do the same, here are 5 classic thrillers to get you started!

Confidentially yours

I watched this movie right after I got back from a France trip and boy oh boy..loved every bit of that France! This movie has an inexplicable Hitchcockness to it. A real estate agent gets caught up in a murder that he did not commit. When all eyes are on him, his secretary sets off on a mission to save her boss's ass. The unpredictable screenplay of this movie makes it an intriguing Friday night watch.

Double Indemnity

As a fan of Billy Wilder's comedies, this movie took me by surprise as I never expected a gripping thriller from the man who gave us 'Apartment' and 'Some like it hot'. Technically Double Indemnity came first so my bad :P This movie spindrifts an ambiguous aura that keeps you on the edge till the end! An insurance agent gets pulled into a murder scheme plotted by a wife to get her husband's insurance money. While they begin the heist, the local detective also gets suspicious. What happens in the end, is something you wouldn't have guessed at all. Barbara Stanwyck is such a queen!

Psycho

Before you mutter 'cliche', let me tell you, as cliche as it sounds, with all the hype it has been receiving around all these years, trust me when I tell you 'it's worth all the hype!' You would have seen pieces of this movie in various other movies as inspiration but if you have no idea what happens in Psycho, this movie is a treat to all the thriller enthusiasts. After stealing her boss's money, Mario tries to flee only to be stopped by bad weather. She seeks refuge in Bates Motel where things take the most unexpected turn. Psycho will make you think twice before you stop for a motel at midnight and the climax haunts me till today.

Dark Passage

I love Lauren Bacall but after watching Dark Passage, I immediately added so many Bogart movies to my watchlist. What a freaking amazing actor he is! The hero introduction in this movie is something you wouldn't have seen elsewhere. Although a little predictable towards the end, you should watch this for the real-life chemistry of Bacall and Bogart and some heart-in-your-mouth scenes.

Vincent Parry is on the run for his life from the prison. He meets Irene on the way who promises to help him prove that he is innocent. But why would Irene help him? Is Vincent really innocent? Watch the movie to find answers to these questions.

Rear Window

When I watched Rear Window, I was also in a similar position to that of James Stewart. Locked up at home, unable to go out - with just one screen to entertain myself. When the movie begins, you get a whiff of a strange familiarity and also an obscure belonging, wishing you lived in one of those houses. The fashion enthusiast me not only enjoyed the mysticism but also the Grace Kelly fashion!

Jeff, a professional photographer, is stationed at home due to his broken leg. His lovely nurse Stella helps him with his daily activities and his beautiful socialite girlfriend Lisa visits him every day. Jeff gets quite observant of his neighborhood, where he watches the lives of everyone living in the opposite building. But one night things get fishy, close to a murder. What Jeff does next is why you'll be enjoying Rear Window as much as I did.

I hope you enjoy watching this collection :)
